I've had the privilege to work with Denise at both the Westin Kauai and the Grand Wailea. I've been out of touch for a very long time and am saddened to hear of her passing. I'll never will forget her friendship, her caring for others, and especially her laugh. She's the only person that I know that would throw a GM or Director out of her office! She wasn't afraid to speak her mind and I truly respected her for that. I have so many memories of her that I will always smile thinking about them. My heartfelt condolences to the family. I'm sure she's keeping God very busy.

Denise will always live in our hearts. I can still hear her yelling at Chef Tylun in purchasing at the Westin Kauai. Thank you for letting us be apart of her life.

I was in such shock to read about Mimsy today. I was scrolling to read another obituary and saw her picture next to Maui, HI. we touched basis years ago when I lived in Hawaii. I remember her so well while at Tift College. We called her "Mimsy!" The nickname fit her perfectly. She was so jolly and fun. RIP, Mimsy!

Thank you for sharing her with us at the Grand. she will be missed

Wow how can I even begin to explain the friend that Denise was to me. We laughed, cussed, cried, shared secrets and even when she was yelling at me in loved her. She knew I had a temper so whenever I needed to send a "firm" email I would send it to her first to review if I was being politically correct before I sent it out. I owe a lot of sanity to Denise though I probably gave her a few white hairs too. She's in my heart always! My love and aloha to you all........

Denise was such a wonderful person to know and work with for the relatively short time my family and I knew since the beginning of my involvement at Grand Wailea in 2013 to the last time I saw her just a few days ago. She always gave you her honest thoughts, worked incredibly hard and cared so much about her team at the Hotel, always doing what she felt was right for the employees, her friends and the Hotel ownership. It was such an honor knowing her and working with her. I enjoyed our long talks about family, work and everything else. She always made me look forward to heading down towards the loading dock as soon as I arrived on each visit and every day I was there. She spoke about her family often and our mutual Georgia and Savannah roots. We will all miss her horribly and I am so sorry for your loss.
- David Gilbert, San Francisco, Ca
I meet Denise at the Grand Wailea. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a great lady, no sugar coating or butt kissing with her. You knew what she was thinking. When I was passing for a personal hardship she gave me courage to keep ahead. She will be greatly missed.

I've work in many places in my life but never in a place like the grand wailea, where the employees loved to come to work and enjoy each other. It wouldn't be possible if we didn't have a great boss. Denise kept was working together and more importantly work as a team and treat each other like family. I never had a boss that I loved working for. Denise didn't only care for us but the well being of our families. Denise we be truly missed. On behalf of the purchasing dept. We will continue to work hard and make her proud.
